BIO-

James and his wife, Bryony, and kids, Maren, Benjamin & Oliver,  are no strangers to ministry. Since being with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in ’95, James has invested his life in reaching kids for Christ through camps and programs; be it with Muslims in England, or with inner-city youth of Atlanta, Georgia. This passion for kids and Christ continues here at Camp, as James seeks to grow generational leaders. You might be surprised to know that James is interested in DJ’ing and mixing music, eating Tacos al pastor at Zocalo Taqueria, and wants to visit 50 more countries before ‘kicking the bucket’.  James’ favorite location at Men-O-Lan is the campfire pit, praying for changed lives, and remembering the truth of Matthew 11.28-30.  Come out and meet him or give him a call- His passion for Christ is contagious!

As a kid, it was two chairs and a blanket.  Now, my tent is much different and not as easy.  The desired effect is, however, the same. To step away from schedules, TV and a Blackberry, to name a few.  Simply put, it’s the desire to slow down.  To breathe.  To meet God in a brand new way.

Although I am new to Men-O-Lan in Spring of ‘08 the story here remains the same.

For nearly seventy years, Men-O-Lan has been the counter weight in the rush of our culture, to slow us down and see God.  Some for the first time, others for the first time in a long time.

With the changes and challenges of our world, Men-O-Lan remains committed to reaching our world for Christ by providing a retreat much different than the lifestyles we run around in. And we do so with purpose and mission.  Committed to laboring with the Church, Camp integrates with our local community to be an effective tool for evangelism and spiritual growth, initiates spiritual renewal for those who have never sought God and for those seeking to know Him more, and inspires young minds with purpose and tools to be leaders in our world.

Behind the new website & logo, buildings, programs and our beautiful property, lies our commitment to effectively reach our world for Christ.  We’ve watched God graciously work here at Camp for nearly seventy years, and we’re convinced that getting away to Men-O-Lan really does work!

Our philosophy is to create an atmosphere that is fun, supportive, and challenging. We want to allow a person to experience perceived risks with group support and remain within a controlled, safe environment. Our highly trained staff will work with you to design a program that fits the needs of your group.

Challenge yourself. Climb to the top of a 30-foot tower.  Hand and foot holds are carefully placed on three different routes to provide varying levels of difficulty. You will be well secured by professional belay equipment. After reaching the top your group may choose to rappel down the other side of the 30-foot tower!

high elements

The high ropes focus more on personal growth. Secured in a professional harness, you will climb approximately 30 feet up into the trees and go through a serious of elements. Test your personal limits and achieve a new goal! Develop greater confidence in yourself and others.

Experience an exhilarating ride on our 200-ft Zip Line from 45-ft in the air. This event can stand alone or be incorporated with the High Elements

Your group may want to improve their communication and problem solving skills on the variety of activities available with our Adventure Course.  A progression of activities will be selected by an experienced leader to allow your group to examine their strengths and weaknesses and through this examination become stronger as a group.

A week of summer camp is such a valuable experience for everyone – children, youth, and families!  At Men-O-Lan, we view each week as a big deposit into the account of personal development, renewal, and refreshment. Thank you for considering Men-O-Lan as a part of your family’s summer! We intend to provide you with the greatest return on the investment you make in your child’s life this summer.

We intend to make summer camp a wonderful memory for campers. That means we pay close attention to the quality and tone of each day and each week:

• Safety for your child is our utmost concern ;at every level – physical, emotional, spiritual, mental.

Great effort goes into the hiring and training of camp counselors who are capable, attentive, fun, and creative.

Purpose

We intend that after a week of camp your child will have more than just new stories to tell or new friendships to continue or a new interest to pursue. We purpose to give campers an opportunity to consider the spiritual component of their life in light of the life of Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible. We don’t force this. We share it, through nature, engaging music, considerate teaching, and daily living. We intend to challenge this young generation to choose the values of peace, joy, self-giving love, respect, and truth.

A week at Men-O-Lan  is full of discovery and adventure – breathing in fresh air; learning new skills; seeing stars at their brightest; listening to the silence; discovering self confidence;  making life long friends; feeling the warmth of a place many call their second home; being challenged by truths to build a life upon. Men-O-Lan exists to bring you excellence in camping year round. 

During the summer, Men-O-Lan hosts a full summer of fun-filled, life-changing experiences for campers of all ages. 

During the non-summer months, Men-O-Lan offers the same experiences as our Christian summer camps, but through retreats, conferences, outdoor education, and other venues.  These programs offer ample opportunity to get away to the beautiful and peaceful surroundings of Men-O-Lan.  

Men-O-Lan  is a ministry that for over sixty years has sought to glorify God through Christian camping.
