OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENT
Camp Men-O-Lan’s many acres provide a variety of habitats for all kinds of plant and animal life. Please help us preserve the attractiveness of our natural setting and make it possible for these plants and animals to continue to thrive here by observing the following guidelines:
- Enjoy the camp environment, leaving it as if you had never been there.
- Take pictures for your souvenirs and memories, not plants, rocks, or flowers.
- Leave the wildflowers for all to enjoy. Picking them may cause their disappearance from the area.
- Do not attempt to "rescue" or adopt baby birds, turtles, or other animals as pets. Report any injured creatures to camp staff.
- Please do not carve on trees. Remember that a tree carving destroys natural beauty, and creates a wound that might introduce disease and kill the tree.
- Stay on established trails! This will help to preserve and protect plant life and natural habitats.
- DO NOT LITTER. (We’ll thank you to pick up any litter you might find).
ENERGY CONSERVATION
- Keep doors and windows closed when heating or air-conditioning is being used.
- Avoid excessive energy usage (such as while heating or air-conditioning a building simultaneously having the windows open or using the building exhaust fan). Monitor the facilities being used and coordinate activities and building temperatures. (Example -–when the gym will be used for physical activities rather than just a meeting room, the temperature should be kept on the cool side, to prevent it from quickly becoming too warm as the activities proceed.)
- Turn out lights when not needed or when you leave a building. (Porch lights also).
GENERAL
- NO PETS are permitted on the camp grounds.
- Please report any injuries, accidents, breakage, or facility problems to staff person.
- ANY damages are the responsibility of the rental group.
- No furniture, equipment, or utensils are to be removed from buildings.
- Firewood is located at the side of Landis Hall and behind the Dining Hall.
- Please do not litter. There are many convenient campus trash receptacles ready to receive your large and small contributions right away throughout your stay and save you clean up time and work later.
- No rollerblading, skateboarding, or bicycling on any porches or in any buildings.
